POSTED: 11:33 am PDT September 17, 2004
UPDATED: 11:50 am PDT September 17, 2004

A judge delayed sentencing for Kerry Dunn, the Claremont McKenna College professor accused of faking her own hate crime.

Dunn will be sent to the Department of Corrections for an evaluation of her mental state.

It was rescheduled for the Dec, 15.

Last March, Dunn said that someone spray painted her car with racial slurs, but there were others who testified they saw Dunn vandalizing her own car.

She was convicted of attempted insurance fraud, and filing a false police report.

She faces up to 3½ years in prison.
