MTA Site Designed For Commuters On The Go

POSTED: 4:52 pm PDT October 8, 2007

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority launched a Web site Monday designed for commuters who check bus and rail schedules on their mobile phones, Blackberries, and other handheld devices.

The agency's Trip Planner, fare information and maps can now be accessed at www.metro.net/mobile. The site is tailored for smaller screens and slower Internet access.

The MTA recommends commuters view the site with the Opera Mini Browser, which can be downloaded from the new mobile Web site.

MTA officials said the site is targeted toward people who have just moved to Los Angeles and tourists -- people who might not have Internet access at a residence.
