An 80-year-old woman and her mentally retarded son who went missing after they were evicted from their home in late August turned up safe Friday at a Desert Hot Springs residence, authorities said.

Marie Louise Hagen and her son, Douglas Eugene Hagen, 43, were evicted from their Desert Hot Springs home on Yucca Drive on Aug. 30 and had not been seen or heard from since, according to Desert Hot Springs police, who issued a missing persons alert for the pair.

Mother and son were found safe and in good condition, said Detective Larry Essex with Desert Hot Springs police.

No foul play was involved, according to Essex, who added the pair were found due in part to media coverage.
