ATM Burglary Surveillance Photos Released
Police released surveillance images Monday of similar automated teller machines burglaries, KNBC's Gordon Tokumatsu reported.Video | ImagesPolice said that the images show burglars using a rope or chain to attach an ATM to their van. The thieves then use the van to loosen the machine.
Since March 2006, at least 34 similar crimes have been reported in Los Angeles County, including four in Gardenia.Other thefts have occurred in Hawthorne, Carson, Bellflower, Compton, Norwalk, Paramount, Santa Monica, Lynwood, Burbank and Whittier.Lt. Ed Burnett of the Gardena Police Department said the same van is not used in each theft and the burglars' faces are covered, making it hard to tell if the same people are responsible for all the burglaries.Anyone with information can contact the Gardena Police Department at 310-217-9670.
