SANTA ANA, Calif. -- Orange County sheriff's investigators hope a composite sketch released Monday will help them identify a petite woman whose body was found in dense brush along Aliso Creek near Saddleback Church.
ImagesAn autopsy Sunday was inconclusive and further tests will be done to determine the cause of her death, said Jim Amormino of the sheriff's department. The woman, believed to be 35 to 50 years old, was 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighed 95 pounds and had dark hair. She was dressed in designer jeans, high-heeled boots, a blue crocheted top and a red jacket. She may be of Central American or Pacific Asian descent, Amormino said.
The woman's body was recovered in a rugged area, but she was not dressed for a hike, he said, adding that no ID was found.Amormino said the woman's description did not match with missing-person reports on file.A man looking for driftwood found the body -- which bore no obvious signs of trauma -- about 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The woman was found lying on her side in weeds beside Aliso Creek off Portola Parkway and El Toro Road, Amormino said. The autopsy was done about 3 p.m. on Saturday. The coroner estimated the time of death was 36 to 48 hours earlier, Amormino said.Amormino pointed out that the coroner has not concluded that the woman found on Saturday is a victim of a homicide. The cause of death is pending toxicological and micro-biological tests, Amormino said. The woman had cosmetic surgery, including work on her teeth and breast implants, which did not have identifying numbers on them as some implants do, Amormino said. Her fingerprints were compared with others in a state database, but there were no matches. The prints will be turned over to the FBI and Department of Homeland Security to see if they are listed in a database outside the state or country.Tests to see if she was sexually assaulted are pending, Amormino said. The woman was wearing jewelry, but Amormino would not describe it, other than to say she was not wearing a wedding ring.
