POMONA, Calif. -- About 130 people were evacuated from buildings at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona Tuesday after a construction crew digging a trench ruptured a natural gas line, authorities said. No injuries were reported in the accident, which was reported shortly before 9 a.m. in the 500 block of East Second Street, county fire Inspector Sam Padilla said.
Workers digging near the Veterinary Medicine Center hit the gas line, said Dereck Andrade of the university. Gas company crews were sent to repair the line.
