Truck Pulling Two Trailers Overturns At Tarzana Freeway Exit

Big Rig Overturns After Brakes Fail

The brakes on a truck pulling two trailers failed as it exited the Ventura (101) Freeway in Tarzana, causing the big rig to overturn, but no one was hurt, authorities said Thursday.

Los Angeles firefighters and paramedics responded to the crash on Ventura Boulevard at Tampa Avenue shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday, Los Angeles City Fire Battalion Chief Gregory Reynar said.

The man driving the truck was exiting the freeway when the brakes failed, Reynar said.

"He then attempted to turn north on Tampa Avenue," which resulted in the big rig overturning, Reynar said.

The man was not injured and no other vehicles were involved in the crash, which was being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department and California Highway Patrol, he said.

The truck and trailers were uprighted and towed during the night, said CHP Officer Francisco Villalobos. The crash remained under investigation Thursday morning, he said.
